Located on the pristine Irish coastline of the Wild Atlantic Way at Derrynane on the Ring of Kerry, husband and wife John and Kerryann Fitzgerald have been running seaweed discovery courses & workshops since 2009.
The area is part of Kenmare Bay which is a Special Area of Conservation under the EU’s Habitat Directive. In February 2023 the Skellig Coast became Ireland’s first Hope Spot.
As custodians of the shore, they are dedicated to minimizing their impact on this pristine coastal region. Their tours aim to enlighten visitors about the critical role of algae in producing over 50% of the Earth’s oxygen, advocating for ocean respect and protection.
